The plethora of Commandos and Jackalopes are now put in their proper places.
It was brought to our attention late last year that the BV for the clan infantry points featured in Total Warfare should generally not have values higher than their Inner Sphere equivalents. The extant conventional infantry were assumed to be wearing the standard Clan Armor Kit as found in Tactical Operations: Advanced Units and Equipment. This gear is considered advanced rules and not usable in Standard Rules play. To account for this, there are now two versions of conventional Clan infantry points.
(Basic) represent the units featured in Total Warfare without advanced armor. They are functionally equivalent to their IS counterparts, but with clan organization.
(Advanced) are equipped identically except that they wear the Clan Armor Kit with a damage divisor of 2. The relevant rules and costs are found in Tactical Operations: Advanced Units and Equipment.
The true end of the RecGuides is upon us and its units are now live.
The Gladiators and Maulers from Shrapnel #15 are now live.
The pair of Shadow Hawks featured in Shrapnel #14 have been added.
We are pleased to announce the (near) completion of the pre-3050 clan availabilities. The one exception is the handful of early jumpships and warships. This will take a bit of extra checking to make sure everything is straightened out. Thanks especially should be directed to MadCapellan and the factory team, who may be the only handful of people on earth with the knowledge to flesh out early production sites.
The units in Recognition Guide Volume 1: Classics have been associated with that volume.
The Albatrosses from Shrapnel #13 have arrived. The ALB-5W will remain behind the curtain for now because the record sheet is in conflict with the Shrapnel TRO.
Update JUL 3: The ALB-5W's issues have been resolved and it now appears with the other variants.
Units for the four new RS PDFS - Jihad, Dark Age, 3145, and 3150, have been associated with those products. In the case of units that appeared in both an era TRO compilation and 3145/50, the newer (and in-print) era TRO was favored.
RS 3145 Unabridged and RS 3145 New Tech New Upgrades have been retired as sources.
The MUL Team is very happy to announce the release of a new faction: Barber's Marauder IIs!
That said, all Marauders and Marauder IIs are now officially banned from all official and unofficial tournaments. Thank you for your understanding.
EDIT: It is with great sadness that the MUL Team must report the destruction of Barber's Marauder IIs at the hands of Clan Jade Falcon. This unfortunately extended to the MUL itself, and the entire faction has been wholly razed from the website. As a wise man once said, pour one out for the homies.
In unrelated news, Marauders and Marauder IIs are now perfectly legal to field in all forms of play once more.
The Kell Hounds have a logo. Nothing has changed, it was always like that.
RG32 added the Inner Sphere reporting name for the Blood Asp - the Star Adder. Per the MUL formatting standard of IS Name (Clan Name), the new name for the unit is now Star Adder (Blood Asp).
While fixing some issues with some Base records, we realized they serve no current or planned future purpose. They have been removed. This should not alter anyone's experience in any meaningful way.
Volume 32 is now live. We bid the series goodbye and thank the staff that worked so hard on bringing them to us.
Mind the Behemoths
Recognition Guide 30 is now live.
https://bg.battletech.com/forums/errata/alpha-strike-companion/msg1903870/#msg1903870 The MUL has been updated for a PV calcuation errata affecting many infantry (battle armor and conventional). If the unit has MEC, XMEC or CAR8 or less (ie. it's “transportable”) it can no longer receive the brawler discount. This affects most infantry that only had short range damage (no medium or long), or the really slow (less than 6") infantry with medium damage. So most Elementals are not affected (except those few with no medium range damage). Tortoises, Ironholds, Grenadiers, foot infantry, etc all have increased PV values.
Image hosting is currently experiencing an outage. This is causing issues with rendering AS cards and slowing down page loading. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Edit 16:00 EST: Everything appears to be functioning normally once again
RGs 28 and 29 are now live
Update Jan 9 23:44 est: Some unvetted data was released early and has to be evaluated before publishing. We'll be back soon. Apologies for the inconvenience
Update Jan 10 01:57 est: We're back. A few availability adjustments may occur.
Happy Tanksgiving to all who celebrate
Here with an eclectic mix of goodies
The Point Values for units with MHQ6 or higher was reduced to put into place the errata at Alpha Strike Companion - 6 June 2022 (v1.5) (battletech.com). This generally affected units with two C3 Masters, or dedicated command support vehicles, about 50 units total.
While reviewing the changes, also added the Large special ability to the two Nishikigoi Support Aircraft.
We have standardized generic infantry platoon names to correspond with the TechManual record sheet
(Rifle) and (Ballistic) have been renamed to (Rifle, Ballistic)
(Laser) has been renamed to (Rifle, Energy)
We have completed a major Alpha Strike Unit Card update. First, we did a comparison between the current AS unit cards on the MUL, with those from new tools (MegaMek's upcoming conversion and Mordel.net), to look for errors. About 800 units had corrections. Many were minor (from spelling, to having CASE instead of CASEII, adding AMS and TAG to turrets), but a few were major (damage value changes, armor, PVs).
Second, there is a errata about to be posted to Point Value calculations for all aerospace units (aerospace fighters, conventional fighters, fixed wing support vehicles) and another for units with the JMPS (strong jump jets) and SUBS (strong submersible). Those PVs are been updated as well.
It has come to our attention that the uniquely organized Taurian conventional infantry were not in the MUL. This has been remedied. The availabilities for standard-sized Periphery infantry will be going through some availability changes as they no longer qualify for Periphery General.
Conventional infantry BV continues to be on our to-do list.
Now available for your perusal
Thanks to the kind folks at Iron Wind Metals, the Svartalfa 2 now has an official record sheet to go along with their sculpt.
As such, the unit's entry now has an introductory date, availabilities, and a link to the sheet.
Apologies for the outage. Everything appears to be working as intended once again
Several battle armor with man-portable plasma rifles gained the Heat (HT) special ability. Configurations of the Black Wolf, Yin Long, Fa Shih, Tengu, Nephilim, Xiphos and Fusilier that had man-portal plasma rifles gained the HT1/1/- special and their PV updated.
The units presented in Shrapnel #10 are now up and running
The MUL team has removed (Standard) from the names of the base models of most units.
This change was done to better align the MUL's unit entries with technical readout and record sheet products. There are some minor instances where (Standard) is instead an integral part of a unit's name; we believe we have caught the few units where this is the case, but as always, please let us know in the MUL feedback thread if any appear to have been missed.
Units contained in the free Force Pack record sheets found on the Downloads Page now point to those products.
Images are currently not loading. We are aware of the issue.
Update: 13:09 EST - images are back, but loading very slowly. baby steps.
We're happy to announce that the ilClan era is now in its beta phase.
Though much work has already gone into the era, it is currently unfinished and is still a work in progress. Units will be added and removed at a high frequency, and faction availabilities for said units will be just as volatile.
With that said, feedback pointing out potential mistakes is more than welcome, and can be posted in this thread:
https://bg.battletech.com/forums/errata/master-unit-list-mul-feedback-thread-iii-read-the-first-post
Examples of welcome comments include those that:
Please, however, do not comment on:
We do not currently have an ETA as to when the ilClan era will reach a more finalized state, but we will make another announcement once we feel secure that the era has taken a more solid form.
Thank you!
We have decided to bite the bullet and split squad size 4, 5, and 6 as separate units. This will allow the correct battle armor squad to be added to the force builder. Availability will be adjusted based on the squad size employed by a specific faction.
Update June 10, 2022: The AS stats and availability should be complete. We are treating this project as completed and appreciate any reported oddities, should they be found.
A number of faction logos have been updated with newer renditions.
Filtvelt has been moved from Inner General to Periphery General for the Jihad (it remains Periphery General for all other eras). This is mostly to correct the strange anomaly of the breakaway state on the fringe possessing a large number of very high-tech mechs for less than a decade before losing them in 3081. Forcebuilding between the Jihad and Republic era should be more consistent going forward.
Each faction page now has a link to the appropriate factional CamoSpecs page. Note that none have been added for factions that are not featured at CamoSpecs (sorry, Burrock fans).
For a time, certain units have been listed under the rules level "Era Specific." This was to indicate the unit possessed equipment not present in a core book - e.g. primitive mechs and the prototype gear from Starterbook: Sword and Dragon. Since the publication of Interstellar Operations, this largely no longer applies. All units formerly classified as Era Specific have been reclassified to their appropriate levels. The single exception is the set of special buildings from the FASA-era McCarron's Armored Cavalry scenario pack. These were not designed under any current rules paradigm and will remain Era Specific.
The Lyran Alliance reverts back to its original name in 3084. For a long while, we had the Jihad ending in 3085 so there wasn't much to consider. When the MUL end date for the Jihad was pushed back to 3080 recently to match published materials, it created a few oddities (see the Outworlds Alliance). To avoid having one Lyran list that is only in force for four years of the Early Republic period, the Lyran Alliance has been removed entirely from that era. Since this is simply a name change that does not produce any measurable change in the LAAF-->LCAF, simply use the Lyran Commonwealth list if you are building a Steiner force in the early 3080s.
Late Republic and Dark Age ComStar availabilities have been added to reflect products like Turning Points: Epsilon Eridani and Spotlight On: Unending Faith.
Note: At first glance, the number of 'Mechs may seem a bit high for the small scale the ComGuards are operating at after 3120, ~75% of those are omni configs rather than discrete chassis.
Note 2: This does not constitute some hint or portent that ComStar is returning in the ilClan Era. The rebuilt ComGuards were completely obliterated in 3141 by the RAF.
RecGuide 24 is now live. Our magical journey is at an end.
The penultimate guide is now live. Vol 24 will be at least a few days so patience is appreciated.
The change of end date for the Jihad from 3085 to 3080 created a small issue with the Outworlds Alliance: the nation continues to exist for three years into what is now officially the Early Republic era. Equipment used by the OA during the Jihad that did not either become extinct or enter the Periphery General list were added to the OA for the Early Republic. Note that the nation itself ceases to be in 3083 when incorporated into the Raven Alliance. This affects about fifty units.
Adjusted errors in Alpha Strike Armor ratings for most Marian infantry units and the resulting Point Value. We've also begun switching the (x2) and (x4) names on split platoons to (1/2) and (1/4) in the hopes of making it more clear you don't get the split units for free. If want a full Marian Jump Platoon, you need two Jump Platoon, Marian (1/2), and have two separate unit cards and pay the PV (or BV for classic BattleTech) for each half platoon.
Volume 22 and all of its quad goodness has arrived
(Title courtesy MegaMek sprite master Deadboarder)
The participants of the 3146 Royal Fantasy Tournament, whose similarities to any person or persons real or fictional are completely coincidental, have finally escaped the vault and made their way into the database
The Fronc Reaches have been added as a discrete faction for all eras that they exist (Jihad through ilClan). Those TinStar battlesuits finally have an appropriate home.
Voilà!
Quick turnaround on this one. Enjoy!
RG19 is now live
It appears our image host is having difficulties and none of the unit, era, or faction images are working properly. We have to wait for them to sort it out.
The issue resolved itself quickly
Custom units found in CM: Mercs and CM: Kurita have at long last been added
Units associated with Shrapnel #5 are now on the MUL.
This issue of Shrapnel is also the first source to feature a unit first produced in the ilClan era. We've made the era live as a result, but will not be populating it with pre-ilClan units until more information regarding the era becomes available.
Wave 3 concludes with the induction of volume 18 into the MUL
RecGuide 17 with all of its Crusader goodness is now live
Please let us know if you see any further issues.
Images are currently not displaying.
We are working on a fix.
Volume 16 locked and loaded
For the opening of our final push to complete early Clan availabilities, we have added a new faction: Star League in Exile. This represents what the SLDF took with them on Operation EXODUS. It is also meant to cover equipment used by the Pentagon Powers through the end of Operation KLONDIKE in 2822.
After 2822, all units on the SL in Exile list either are considered extinct in the homeworlds or are transferred to a Clan or Clans. In this context extinct is defined as wiped out in the fighting during KLONDIKE, decommissioned, or placed in Brian Caches wholesale.
Note that this update does not include Early Succession Wars data for Jumpships, Dropships, or Warships. We still have a not insignificant amount of research to do on that front.
It is now possible to search for several roles simultaneously under the Units tab. Expand the Basic Filters and Ctrl + Click to select multiple items.
When looking at a faction list from either the Factions or Eras tab, the accompanying General List for that faction will cut off at the date of that faction's demise (if one is defined). For example, Clan Steel Viper will not list any units from the Homeworld Clan General list in the Jihad era after 3075.
This Recognition Guide is now live. Enjoy!
Peruse at your leisure
Some now seven year-old errata correcting the BV of superheavy tripods was never entered. These monstrosities are now slightly cheaper to field. Try not to spend all the savings in one place.
The space stations of Gulf Breeze have achieved stable orbit within the database
Recognition Guide vol. 13 is now available.
Naval Vessel has been removed from the “type” options in the unit search as there is no such type in the rules. All naval vessels are Combat, Support, or Advanced Support Vehicles and have been reclassified as such.
All water-born units have been given the subtype Naval (hull displacement and hydrofoils), Submarine, or Large Naval (for hull displacement or submarines over 300 tons).
The incredibly dubious deals offered in Caveat Emptor are now available
The SuburbanMechs from Shrapnel #4 are now live.
The 'Mechs found it TRO: Jihad have been associated with that book. There is no record sheet volume available at this time.
To complement the addition of the Scorpion Empire, we have also added Operational Turning Points: Hanseatic Crusade
Two new factions have been added to the MUL.
The Escorpión Imperio is active between 3080 and 3140 (or the Jihad to Dark Age eras) and is a continuation of Clan Goliath Scorpion. The second faction, the Scorpion Empire, is a Dark Age-era evolution of the Imperio. Do note that due to the isolated nature of both factions, neither are currently a part of any General lists.
Technical Readout: Irregulars is now on the MUL.
It may have avoided most people's notice, but we've made changes to how the Free Worlds League is listed in the Jihad through Dark Ages eras. The Free Worlds League tag represents the League prior to their breakup in 3079 and after the reunification in 3139. There were some inconsistencies in the way the tag was used.
We added a new sub-faction—Free Worlds League (Non-Aligned Worlds)—to represent a group that was previously unrepresented. Units that had been assigned to the general FWL faction were given availability to all seven sub-factions. Now one must simply look at one of the sub-factions and Inner Sphere General to get the entire spate of units used by them during these eras. [The faction links represent a search of both of these groups.] The pan-Free Worlds League faction was removed from both the Early and Late Republic Eras since all units had been unassigned from it.
How exactly things are handled after 3150 will be decided once the shape of the Inner Sphere becomes more clear.
Data and AS stats for the four units presented in Turning Points: War of 3039 Vega have been entered. They had previously avoided our notice
If you've been pining since 2015 for the surprisingly large number of units from HBHK, it's your lucky day. They have now been added.
RecGuide 12 is now live for your viewing pleasure
Recognition Guide: Volume 11 is now available on the MUL.
Clan units first introduced during the Late Succession Wars eras (2901 to 3049) now have availabilities for those eras.
This update does not affect Clan units first introduced prior to 2901.
Recognition Guide: Volume 10 is now available on the MUL.
Units featured in the Technical Readout articles of Shrapnel issues #2 and #3 have been added.
Another week, another Recognition Guide! Recognition Guide Volume 9 is now on the MUL.
Operational Turning Points: Fronc Reaches is now live.
The units from House Arano, Spotlight On: Holt's Hilltoppers, Spotlight On: Unending Faith, and Touring the Stars: Tortuga Prime have now been added.
Technical Readout: Golden Century is now up on the MUL.
Recognition Guide: ilClan volumes 7 and 8, along with Battle of Tukayyid, have been added to the Master Unit List.
At long last, units in TRO Clan Invasion & RS: Clan invasion have been associated with those publications. In addition, the eight factional 3145 PDFs have been moved to TROs 3145/3150 and RS 3145u
Recognition Guide: ilClan volumes 5 and 6 have been added to the Master Unit List.
Recognition Guide: ilClan volumes 2, 3 and 4 have been added to the Master Unit List.
Recognition Guide: ilClan Vol. 1 has been added to the Master Unit List.
Piloting and Gunnery BV modifiers have been updated to reflect the most recent errata
Unit Search has had the "Only units with Battle Value" checkbox changed so it now defaults to unselected. A default search for a unit will now show all results, regardless of whether it has a Battle Value listed or not.
The MUL has made some updates to the Alpha Strike Unit Cards. We now have separate unit cards for BattleMechs, Aerospace, Vehicles, ProtoMechs and Infantry! No stats have changed, it's the card layout for which stats are shown, which criticals are listed, etc.
The Alpha Strike Force Builder print PDF option is now working again. Thanks Skyhigh!
Several weeks ago now, the Master Unit List moved to a new web host, along with several other BattleTech related websites. The new web host does not have all the functionality of the old one, and our developer is working on making the changes necessary to return all the functionality. For the MUL, the remaining known issue is the Alpha Strike Force Builder not being able to provide the PDF when the print option is selected.
As some of the other sites have more problems, they are curently the priority and it may be awhile before the Force Builder print option is working again. Sorry for the inconvience. The best workaround I know of at this time is to copy and paste the individual AS cards in to Word or another software and print them from there.
Battle Armor units now have three Alpha Strike cards. The first is for 4 suits (standard Inner Sphere Battle Armor squads). The second is for 5 suits (standard Clan Battle Armor squads), and the last is for 6 suits (standard Comstar/Word of Blake Battle Armor squads).
Eventually we plan on adding BVs for each squad size.
It's been hiding there for a while, but there's now a link under Tools to an Alpha Strike card generator for custom units. You supply the Alpha Strike stats, it will build a card for you. Thanks Skyhigh!
We hadn't included a PV (Alpha Strike Point Value) cost for the TOR (Torpedo) special ability. Unlike other special abilities, it is not included in base damage. All units with TOR have had their PV updated.
Skyhigh added a new feature a while ago, I just wanted to point it out to everyone. Next to Units (in search, or on the Unit's page) is a +Force button. Clicking this button will give you a note about the unit being added to your force. You can do this multiple times, with the same unit or other units.
Then when you go to the Force page (from the top menu), you will see a list of all the units you have added to this Force. You can remove units if you'd like, or clear the entire Force.
Finally there's a Print icon in the upper right. From here you can choose to print a unit list (basically like you see on the page) or Alpha Strike cards (or both). This actually creates a PDF that you can then either save or print.
Alpha Strike unit cards now show the 0* for those units that use the minimal damage rule found in the Alpha Strike Companion (and errata to the Alpha Strike rulebook).
The database was not set up to allow non-numeral damages in the Short, Medium or Long range damage values. So when the import tried to place 0* in those fields, it just put a 0.
We're working on correcting this, but the change affects a lot of things so it may be a while.
The Master Unit List was updated today with new Alpha Strike cards using the new Point Values (PV), Minimal Damage rule (0*), special abilities (REAR, FUEL, etc) from the Alpha Strike Companion. If the unit has a card, as of today, it has been updated.
Battle Armor is currently showing 4-man squads for Alpha Strike cards. We've got a new system in place to allow each Battle Armor to have a separate card for 4, 5 and 6 man squads, but we're still working on how to get the data in the database. For now, it's showing 4-man squads only.
The ability to search for BattleForce and Alpha Strike special abilities is back! You'll find it under the Basic Filter in the Unit Search. Enter separate special abilities with a space between, and the search will find units that have all special abilities you listed.
For example, ENE C3S will show you all units that have both ENE and C3S.
Technical Readout 3145, the PDF series, has had its units added to the Master Unit List database. Battle Value and faction availabilities are listed now. Art and Alpha Strike Stats will come later.
My host is moving servers around and my server's IP will be changing. You may not be able to load the following websites until DNS changes have completely propogated.

XTRO Boondoggles Units are now available with BV and availability. Have fun with the strangest XTRO of all time.
The units from Wars of Reaving (Supplemental) and the Bounty Hunter Dossier as well as their Battle Values have been added to the Master Unit List.
Units from Interstellar Expeditions: Interstellar Players 3 have been added to the Master Unit List along with their availabilities during the Jihad and Republic eras.
Units from Experimental Technical Readout: Succession Wars Vol. 1 have been added to the Master Unit List along with their availabilities during the Jihad and Republic eras.
Units from Record Sheets: 3067 Unabridged have been added to the Master Unit List along with their availabilities during the Jihad and Republic eras.
Added links in Notes to the BattleCorps webpage that is the Technical Readout entry for units that were "TR'd" there. We've also marked which units had full Technical Readout entries there (the Featured tag), as opposed to which were just mentioned as variants. These are all marked as BattleCorps for their TR source.
The ones we've done so far are all available without a BattleCorps subscription, anyone can go the link and read the entries. These are all additional, new at the time, Project Phoenix variants. The Record Sheets have generally been done in RS 3085 Unabridged - Project Phoenix, but their Technical Readout writeup is still only found on BattleCorps.
There were later entries done for new RS 3060 Uanbridged units. These have not been marked/linked in the MUL yet.
Units from Experimental Technical Readout: Phantoms and Experimental Technical Readout: Primitives Vol 3 have been added to the Master Unit List.
There is now a Notes field on Units that will tell you where to find the correct record sheet if the unit uses another unit's record sheet. Example, VTR-9D is just another name for the VTR-9K. The VTR-9D unit page now has a note saying to use the VTR-9K record sheet.
Welcome to the BattleTech Master Unit List. Since even before Total Warfare was first published, it has been our goal to provide BattleTech fans with a comprehensive list of game units and their corresponding Battle Value.
This product is the first Battle Value list for units using the Total Warfare and BattleMech Manual rules set. It offers over 9,000 variants for well over 900 individual combat vehicles.
We have also provided faction availability for most eras ranging from the foundation of the Star League up until the end of the Dark Age.
Regular updates to the Master Unit List will provide new units and information from upcoming product releases.
This release covers known information meant to compliment published products; as such, it will not cover the Homeworld Clans after 3081, nor any remnants of otherwise "off-screen" factions such as potential Word of Blake or Wolverine survivors.
ilClan-era availability is currently in a beta phase, and is not finalized. This will be a significant undertaking with several layers of review, and items may be added or removed on a case-by-case basis at our discretion as new material is released. An announcement will be made once the era reaches a more stable state.
